CAD/CAM
Machinist Cooperative has always stayed on the cutting edge of technology. As the demands from our customers have increased we have taken the steps necessary to keep up.
In recent years there has been a growing trend towards solid based machining. Having recognized this trend five years ago, we decided to take the plunge. In 2004 we upgraded our CAD/CAM software with the purchase of FeatureCAM from Delcam. This software has allowed us to quote on jobs that we would have previously passed on.
In a nutshell, the key benefit of solid based machining is speed of NC programming. The ability to directly load the solid model, and extract feature information from it. From conception to finished part, manufacturing time is reduced tremendously.
We employ state of the art in CAD/CAM capabilities. The strength in solids and feature recognition through CAD/CAM is incredibly fast. Design changes, whether at our end or yours, are easily accommodated.
Machinist Cooperative also found it necessary to acquire SolidWorks. The vast majority of our customers were using SolidWorks, and those who were not SolidWorks has the ability to import those files.

Machinist Cooperative was approached by its customers many years ago, they were trying to design and get products to market so fast that they did not want to waste any time with a fully dimensioned 2D drawing. They wanted us to take the solid model and machine the parts directly from the model. This was very early in the conception of this idea and most of the shops were not at the level (or willing to get there) of this technology. We took on the challenge, and were successful. I believe this is due to the good choices we made in our selection of CAD/CAM software.
